Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas

my absolute childhood favourite and the first book I read several times. the historical setting of a disputedly fictional story teaches about European identity, while the protagonist is much like a student going to a boarding school. a pleasant summer read

The Sell, by Fredrik Eklund

besides a couple of good advices such as "spend 20% of your salary on clothes" this book was unexpectedly fun to read and up to date. I like to resort to it for practical advice.

Wilhelm Meister's Lehrjahre, by Wolfgang Goethe

this is a Bildungsroman I would recommend to all young people. it much reminded me of my favourite childhood book Three Musketeers. original version develops language and morals of the reader.

Long walk to freedom, by Nelson Mandela

what a colossus. very different, much less of a man I would identify with, nevertheless one I admire, Madiba came right after Gandhi to shake the world.

Memoire eines Diplomaten, by George F. Kennan

this book made me realise how much work, skill and effort it takes to save the world non-fiction. this book shaped my perception of the world anew.

My experiments with truth, by Mohandas Gandhi

a very good book. until the very last page I had a friend talking to me about what it takes to live well, and when he gives farewell one closes the book with the notion there is a time ahead we meet again.
